Notes on field-grown trees:
Don't miss the benefits of planting field-grown trees during the dormant season.
The wintery months of the dormant season are the ideal time to select field-grown trees that will beautify your landscape all year long. If you want a tree with more than a 2-inch calliper - the diameter of the trunk 6 inches off the ground - you should choose a field-grown tree. Field-grown trees are cultivated in the ground where they can grow larger and often more robust than their container-grown counterparts. In addition to their size advantages, field-grown trees have more naturally developed root systems, which allow them to thrive with less water during the first year. And winter planting allows them to benefit from the spring rain and better adapt to their new environments.
